Susan D'Onofrio
first began practicing yoga in 1978, while she was studying psychology and art at Rutgers University. During this time she visited and then moved into a nearby ashram, a community formed for the spiritual uplifting of its members. She lived in the ashram for nearly a year as she studied yoga, learning about its many facets which took her far beyond the poses.
Since then Susan has practiced many styles of yoga including hatha, Bikram, and Kripalu, and taken teacher training classes in Iyengar and Viniyoga. She blends the qualities of some of these styles in a unique way to bring freshness to her yoga. She is currently deepening her practice and expanding her teaching skills by participating in an Anusara Teacher Training Program .
She believes that yoga can help people experience stress reduction; increased mental clarity; and increased strength and flexibility, enabling them to enjoy all aspects of their life more fully. She believes that anyone can practice yoga, regardless of age or physical condition and enjoys teaching small classes where people feel comfortable. Her approach is gentle, supportive, patient, and enthusiastic.
